Café la Vie brings the Italian-American tradition of The Feast of Seven Fishes to life this year on December 14, 2022 with a beautiful four course culinary masterpiece and optional wine pairing. Different seating options are available between the hours of 5-10PM.
In the 1900s, Italian-Americans rejuvenated the timeless Roman Catholic practice of abstaining from meat on Christmas Eve by preparing a seafood meal that made them feel both connected to the Old Country and close to a long celebrated seasonal traditional. While the ancient tradition of eating fish on Christmas Eve can be traced back to the Roman Catholic beginnings, the number seven is also biblically rooted; sacraments, days of creation, deadly sins… hence the seven in the number of fishes presented during this fine meal. Considered one of the oldest Italian-American traditions, The Feast of Seven Fishes is a time to be surrounded by family, friends, and delicious seafood offerings.
$75/person with a $50/person optional wine pairing
